Steel, silvered two tone dial Rolex Oyster Perpetual, model number 6532, case number 119516 dating from the last quarter of 1955.

The dial is two tone silvered gloss with applied steel diamond cut markers, the quarter hour markers are much thicker than the rest and there is an applied Rolex coronet at 12. Immediately under the model name the depth rating “50m=165ft” is printed, this indicates that the watch was one of the first to be fitted with the new Twinlock crown and tube. The dial is stepped with a raised centre section and unusually the seconds chapter is printed inside this step, and not on the periphery of the dial, as normally seen. The blued steel sweep seconds hand is therefore much shorter & the main hands are leaf style with heavy luminous inserts.

The case is most unusual in having flat sides, like a GMT or Sub, not the usual barrel shaped case sides seen on all other Oyster Perpetuals from the period, I have enclosed a page from the 1957 Rolex USA catalogue, showing the exact same watch and dial.

The movement is a 25 jewel caliber 1030, and even though it is a assumed to be a non chronometer, it is nevertheless numbered 631581. It has kif flector shock protection and the movement is bright and shiny, retaining all of its rhodium plating.

The case is 95%, the dial is 95+% and the movement is also 95%.

The watch measures 34mm diam., 42mm lug to lug, 11mm high; it takes a 19mm strap and a US made riveted Rolex bracelet is fitted.
