The watch measures 32mm diameter, 36mm lug to lug and 11mm high, it takes a 17.5mm strap and the original Longines signed crocodile strap is still fitted.

Description

Two piece case with snap back, unusual triangular lugs and sloped bezel; the inner caseback bears the model number 185 and the case number 618016.

The movement is numbered 10572868 and is a cal 23zs, which was Longines’s first movement designed after WWII, it is the sweep seconds version of the basic 23z. It has a brushed rhodium finish, 17 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance with adjusting screws & self compensating Breguet balance spring, and adjusted to 3 positions. The movement is engraved LXW on the balance cock, which refers to Longines Wittnauer, the US importer of Longines watches.

The dial has the name “Longines” in black enamel on the silvered surface; it has applied gilt large Arabic numerals for the four quarters, and applied gilt diamond cut “baton” markers for the remaining hour indices. The hands are gilt faceted leaf shaped ones with a simple gilt baton hand for the sweep seconds.

The watch is engraved on the case back with a presentation text, but it seems that it was never worn, as the original strap is still unused.
