Description

I am the guy who says he does not deal in Day-Dates and Datejusts, yet here I am with another steel Datejust. However in my defence I must state that this is a most unusual Datejust, it is a super rare Vignette dial version with its original box & papers on a Jubilee bracelet. It was sold by Verga, Italy’s largest & most famous Rolex dealer in 1993.

The dial is an amazing one, where the dial edges are black and the centre a dark red and the black paint is feathered into the red, near the applied white gold Arabic markers and an applied white gold Rolex coronet at 12, neither the dial nor the hands have ever had luminous one them, despite the T markings at the bottom of the dial. Vignette dials are extremely expensive to produce and are normally only seen on Day Dates, to find one on a steel Datejust is very rare.

The case on the 16234 is the classic case with a milled white gold bezel and the Jubilee bracelet.

The movement is the 3135, with kif flector shock protection, 27 jewels and adjusted to 5 positions and temperatures, it is numbered 7132499.

The case, bezel, dial & movement are all 95%.

Diameter 34mm; Lug to Lug 45mm; Height 13mm, it takes a 20mm bracelet and the original Jubilee one is still fitted.
